Babies
0 – 2 years

We have a large open plan area for messy play and creative activities, as well as sensory exploration and a comfortable sleep room with cots and mats. Our designated areas encourage safe and independent movement.

Babies have designated time to access to the main sensory room, multi-purpose room and outdoor area.

Our fully equipped kitchen area allows for the preparation of healthy snacks and bottle making.

Toddlers
2 – 3 years
- The emphasis of toddler areas room is learning through play and social interactions. Activities include messy play, role play, singing, story time, construction and small world.
- There are lots of resources to encourage children to use their imagination, develop creativity and explore the world around them; especially through outdoor play.
- The sensory room is utilised to provide a comfortable space for toddlers to rest and sleep, if required.

Pre-School
3 – 5 years
- With a huge array of opportunities, our pre-school play room is an exciting place to be. Activities include; arts and crafts, story time, construction toys and tasks, games and lots of outdoor play.
- Our team ensure children can express their ideas and feelings both through independent play and group activities.
- Our goal is to create opportunities for positive interpersonal interactions amongst children.

Activities
There are a whole host of activities to choose from including; our sensory room, outdoor play, arts and crafts, messy play, games, reading, story time and small world.
The possibilities are endless for fun, creative, engaging and developmental activities. In addition, we have our allotment and arrange a number of exciting outings each year.
Allotment
All children will enjoy regular trips out to explore our allotment.
It is only an 800m walk away, digging and getting hands on with some mud is essential!
Outings
Our outings are a hugely exciting part of life at YMCA Day Nursery.
Planned in advance and thoroughly risk assessed, always fun and always educational, our outings offer opportunities for children to explore the world around them and learn new skills. (Details of specific outings are shared with parents well in advance.)
YMCA Facilities
The large and bright, main hall within YMCA North Tyneside (just across the road) is ideal for energetic indoor play and a number group activities.
Meals and Nutrition
All our food is prepared on site from fresh ingredients. Our varied menu makes meals both tasty and healthy. Please see our sample menu for examples.
NOTE: Vegetarian options are always available & will be advised on a needed basis. Full weaning menu & catering for children’s allergies/religious needs will be met.
The cost of meals are not included in funded places.
- Lunch: £3.00
- High tea: £2.50
Parents are also welcome to provide a healthy packed lunch as an alternative.
Times and Fees
We are open Monday – Friday 7:30am – 6pm for 51 weeks of the year.
