Every month each room picks a storybook to focus on. We believe stories are a great base to plan exciting learning opportunities around. Our book this month has been the Very Hungry Caterpillar.
The children really enjoyed spending time reading with staff, as well as on their own, and then took part in lots of different activities to do with the story.
Each activity helps the children to use their imagination and to provoke their own thoughts while keeping with the themes of the book.
While enjoying eating some salad for lunch, one of the children told a member of staff;
“Look! A leaf that caterpillars eat!”
The children were then very surprised when some tiny caterpillars arrived for them to see…we can’t wait for them to turn into butterflies!
