With all of this amazing weather we’ve been having, the practitioners at YMCA Day Nursery got together and came up with a plan to make the most of the sun by taking learning outside.
Hats and plenty of suncream were put on and shaded areas were set up for each age group, with activities that were both fun and educational.
The baby room enjoyed exploring their environment guiding wooden cars over an exciting stretch of ramps and roads.
The toddlers made the most of the outdoor equipment playing on the climbing frames, showing staff how well they’re learning and developing. It’s a great opportunity to observe and assess the toddler’s gross motor skills with every run, jump and slide.
Over in the mud kitchen the pre- schoolers let their imaginations run wild, producing some interesting concoctions including soil sandwiches and of course, the classic mud pie.
After a good session of outdoor play, the staff and children enjoyed a picnic filled with healthy snacks and cool drinks, freshly prepared by the kitchen staff at YMCA North Tyneside.
With smiles all round, both the staff and children were extremely grateful to have access to to an incredible space which is a fun, interactive and educational outdoor area.
