2021 has impacted many of us financially and emotionally, especially after the events of the previous year. Many have been furloughed or lost their jobs due to Covid, not to mention the reduction in Universal Credit. So, over the past few months we have partnered with The Works in North Shields whose customers have kindly donated new toys, books and activities to support some members of our nursery family. Each donation will help us support some of our more vulnerable families this Christmas, making sure the families can give their children a happier Christmas this year.
Throughout the year we have worked with over 100 families, some of whom have needed multi agency support to ensure their children are in a safe and secure environment. It is so important that as part of our mission and nursery curriculum, we ensure not only the children attending nursery but their families have the opportunity to belong, contribute and thrive.
As we look back on the last 12 months we have been able to continue to provide childcare consistently, whilst continuing to deal with the limitations of COVID 19. There have been moments of great joy as we have seen many new children join our nursery family, but also a few tears were shed when we saw 24 of our pre-schoolers make the transition to big school in September, some of whom had been with us since nursery first opened its doors.
